Understanding The Signs
And Symptoms Of Stress
Although stress is something that everyone experiences from
time to time, it is vital for you to be aware of the
different signs and symptoms of stress. If left alone,
stress can lead to far more damages than most people can
imagine. In small doses, stress can sometimes give you the
push you need to accomplish a certain task. But if the
stress becomes far too much, it can become a threat to you
physically and emotionally.
In order to get a handle of your stress, you have to
understand the various signs and symptoms of stress. While
everyone becomes stressed out for different reasons, many of
these symptoms are similar from person to person. Being
aware of these signs can help you to relax, rationalize and
relieve yourself from the burden of the stress.
Firstly, you must accept the fact that stress affects the
mind, body, and behavior in several different ways. While
many of the symptoms are similar from person to person, the
type of symptoms each person experiences may vary. Some
people may experience mostly physical symptoms while others
may be strictly emotional symptoms. Nonetheless, it is
important for you to be aware of each sign that you may
experience.
There are several different physical symptoms you may begin
to notice. Some of these symptoms include headaches or
backaches, muscle tension, nausea and dizziness, and skin
breakouts. On a more severe case, you can even lose or gain
weight, have insomnia, and frequently experience rapid
heartbeat. This is when you need to treat yourself
immediately or go see a doctor.
As with physical symptoms, there are several emotional
strains you may find yourself experiencing. It is common for
people who are stressed out to become agitated, moody,
restless, be short tempered, and feel overwhelmed. If the
stress continues without being treated, it can lead to
depression or poor acts of behavior.
This leads to the next kind of symptoms of stress;
behavioral symptoms. Some of the signs that can come from a
big amount of stress include eating less, sleeping less, and
procrastinating. This can all be due to nervousness over a
certain project or event that is coming up. On a more
serious level you may find yourself abusing alcohol or drugs
more, overreacting to small problems, or picking fights.
As you can see, a problem that everyone experiences from
time to time can lead to much more severe problems if left
untreated. It is vital for you to be informed about all of
the signs and symptoms of stress including physical,
emotional and behavioral signs.
